Students will explore the ways sociologists view society and how they study the social world. They will examine culture, socialization, deviance, and the structure and impact of institutions and organizations as well as selected social problems and how change impacts individuals and societies. The course reflects the standards recommended by the American Sociological Association (ASA).

In addition, the course seeks to give an account of past and contemporary events relating to sociology. Key concepts and events will be taught and discussed in a thematic, relevant, and systematic order.
